Lucy Rugman is a freelance clarinettist and a creative music practitioner. You can book her for the highest professional clarinet playing, whether it be orchestral, as a chamber musician or for weddings/funerals.

Lucy also creates bespoke music projects for orchestras, schools, communities and for people with additional needs and disabilities. The projects always focus on peoples inner creativity, giving an outlet for expression through live music. Lucy also offers training for musicians who want to develop their skills in order to do outreach work and for those who want to become workshop leaders.

Lucy has worked extensively in this field in the UK as a lead artist for charities Live Music Now! and Jessie’s Fund since 2008.

Lucy is committed to helping orchestras become really embedded in their communities in her home town of Stockholm and the surrounding areas. She designs and facilitates projects for orchestras such as Stockholm Concert Orchestra, Västerås Sinfonietta and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. Here are a description of some of the projects I have been working on:

In 2015 Lucy collaborated with the British company ConBrio Ltd and specialist Ros Hawley to do a project with MusikAlliansen. They trained 5 free-lance musicians to gain the skills to run a one day workshop in Jorielskolan, creating music with students with special educational needs and disabilities. inspired-work-new-thoughts-project-report-nov-2015-compressed

In 2017 Lucy’s project ‘Fritt Spelrum’ collaborated with Stockholm Concert Orchestra, Haga Duo and two Stockholm Special Schools. They produced an exhilarating concert at Musikaliska with over 35 students with additional needs on stage, performing their own music alongside professional musicians from Stockholm Concert Orchestra.

In 2018 Lucy is also working on a creative music project at Sachsska Children’s Hospital in Stockholm lead by Music for Health practitioner Ruth Spargo. Read all about it here (in Swedish) https://www.ruthspargo.live/musikochhalsa
